LegalServer’s flexible API architecture allows for many different ways of making use of data from other systems — saving attorneys valuable time and providing real-time information that might otherwise take days or weeks to surface.

How It Works

The Public Defender’s Office in Travis County, Texas, is using Microsoft Power Automate combined with a LegalServer API feature to pull client information from the county sheriff’s warrant database and match it with the appropriate attorney listed in LegalServer.

Every morning, the system searches the sheriff’s office’s database for any warrants issued in the prior 24 hours against clients in their LegalServer database. When a client is identified, the system automatically sends an email to the assigned attorney with information about the warrant, so they can act quickly to help the client avoid arrest.

The result: fewer days spent in custody for clients

Creating this integration does not require extensive LegalServer technical support nor additional module enablement. Rather, the built in features within LegalServer allow for site administrators to extend their use of the system through configuration and implementation of included tools.

Court calendaring: Daily searches of online court dockets automatically create attorney-specific calendar events in LegalServer.

Getting Started with LegalServer APIs

LegalServer offers a range of tools for building both no-code and code-based integrations. To get data out of LegalServer, any report built in the system can be turned into a read-only Report API, returning JSON or XML. LegalServer also provides a robust set of RESTful API endpoints for creating, reading, and updating data — enabling automated case creation, case searches, updates to cases or users, case notes, document storage, and more.
