February 2017 LegalServer Roundup

Joining LegalServer

We hit the ground running in January as we welcomed three new groups to the LegalServer onboarding process.

The Pennsylvania Health Law Project is an agency dedicated to both direct advocacy and policy change to impact health care for low-income Pennsylvania consumers and MidPenn LegalServices provides civil legal services to low income residents and survivors of domestic violence in 18 counties in Central Pennsylvania. Both PHLP and MPLS are part of the Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network.

Community Legal Services and Counseling Center provides both free civil legal assistance and affordable psychological counseling to people with low incomes located in Cambridge Massachusetts.

Going Live

This month, we look forward to launching Friends of Farmworkers and Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project. Friends of Farmworkers provides legal services, education and advocacy to support low-wage workers as they pursue economic and social justice.

The Pennsylvania Institutional Law Project focuses on the needs of low income residents of Pennsylvania prisons, jails, state hospitals, and state centers. Both are based in Pennsylvania and are part of the Pennsylvania Legal Aid Network.

Training

This month we are focusing on Running/Building Reports, Intake Functionality and the Clinics Module on our Tuesday Trainings. We will also hold our monthly open Q&A session for admins and report builders on the fourth Tuesday of the month. Make sure to check our training calendar, with full descriptions of all our trainings.

Releases

Last month we delivered four LegalServer code releases and closed 168 tickets. These included improvements to our Vera, Advanced Grants Management, and Activity Presets features, a security enhancement to terminate calendar access for inactive users, report filters on user suffixes/second names, and a new date picker to ease calendaring of events, tasks and deadlines on static forms.

We are on the verge of several under-the-hood improvements that should dramatically speed up people searches, including conflict searches of large sites.

New on our Help Site

This month we are launching a new LegalServer Onboarding Portal. Here onboarding groups will find a description of the onboarding process, what to expect when migrating data as well as the various standard LegalServer modules with descriptions, help links, and videos (also available on our YouTube Channel).

Other News

Save the date for your LegalServer National Training in Pittsburgh, PA on May 2 and May 3, right before the Equal Justice Conference. This will be a paid training.

If you are considering applying for a TIG grant in the next session, please contact Jeff and IV. We are innovating on a number of fronts and want to coordinate our future commitments to maintain momentum and synergy with our current efforts.
